Offspring weight, heart risks linked to mom's blood sugar

And just guess which moms tend to have high blood sugar.
"A mother's blood sugar levels during pregnancy may increase her offspring's risk for being overweight and having heart disease, according to findings from a Danish study.

Such high blood sugar levels - characteristic of diabetes during pregnancy, known as gestational diabetes - have been shown to increase the risk of heart disease and other problems in animals. The cluster of conditions - high blood pressure, low levels of 'good' cholesterol, high levels of blood lipids (fats), elevated blood sugar, body weight, and waist size - are known in humans as metabolic syndrome and indicate increased risk for heart disease and diabetes."
Fat ones.
