Staying in shape 'hard for women'

Being smart is 'hard for experts.'

You have to be an idiot to believe this stuff.
"Older women should eat plenty of protein as their bodies find it much harder than men's to replace the muscle lost as they age, a study suggests.

Differences in the way male and female bodies metabolise food means older women do not use protein as effectively to maintain muscle, the research found. Nottingham and Washington researchers studied 29 men and women aged 65 to 80.

Women over 65 should eat foods like meat and eggs and do resistance exercise, they write in PLOS One."

Adding muscle mass will not occur from eating more protein.

Adding muscle mass results from resistance training, not resistance exercise.

"'We know that women tend to have less muscle bulk than men as they enter old age so the advice to eat more protein is very sensible indeed,' British Dietetic Association spokesman Jackie Lowdon said."

Jackie is stupid and misleading us.

Do not eat more "meat and eggs" to increase muscle mass.

Train.

BTW, aren't "meat and eggs" the stuff we are supposed to avoid to protect our hearts and blood vessels and prevent certain cancers?

Yes.

And this is from a dietetic association.

Pathetic.

"The researchers found that after resistance exercise like lifting weights, women did not build up muscle as their male counterparts did.

The male body, it appeared, was able to store protein in the muscle and use this to make them stronger."

Men almost always add more muscle than women because of testosterone, it is believed.

This happens at just about any age.

This BBC article about the BDA and this research is bull.

This, too, happens at just about any age.

Incidentally, staying in shape appears to be hard for everyone since men and women are porkulent.

It is only hard because of impossible, wrongheaded, misleading and deadly diet and fitness advice.
