Today, one in three children in the U.S. and 31 percent of kids in Wisconsin are overweight or obese, putting them at risk for myriad chronic diseases and making childhood obesity one of today's leading health issues. Humana, in collaboration with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation - a nonprofit organization founded by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation - is working with local companies to provide comprehensive health benefits for the prevention, assessment and treatment of childhood obesity.I am taking bets.
The Humana initiative provides coverage - to qualified children ages 3 to 18 with a body mass-index in the 85th percentile or higher - for visits with a primary-care doctor for obesity exams. It also includes visits with a registered dietician for nutrition counseling. These health care professionals work with children and their families to establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
