"'Chronic diseases afflict 100 million Americans, cause seven out of 10 deaths and consume $2 out of every $3 spent on health care,' but 'much of the burden ... can be prevented with simple lifestyle choices' because a 'major contributing factor is physical inactivity,' HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt writes in a Lexington Herald-Leader opinion piece."There is almost no way that "exercise" can ever lead to the prevention of chronic illness in the absence of caloric intake control.
But, caloric intake control, in the absence of "exercise" can lead to the prevention of chronic illness.
Do not fall for the conventional stupidity.

Having a chronic illness can trigger clinically significant depression, a potentially serious but treatable illness itself. The illness may affect a person’s mobility and independence, and change the way a person lives, sees him- or herself, and/or relates to others. These requirements can be stressful and cause a certain amount of despair or sadness that is normal.
