Depression is among the most common psychiatric conditions. According to Solomon and colleagues in the February 2000 issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry, 60% of patients will have a recurrence within 5 years of recovering from a depressive episode. The risk for a depressive episode is greater for those with a history of childhood maltreatment vs those without a history of maltreatment, as reported by Kessler in the 1997 issue of the Annual Review of Psychology.Fat parents have fat kids.
