Diet-Related Weight Loss in Obese Improves Cardiac Structure, Function

Caloric intake control, i.e., "diet-related weight loss" is far and away easier than shedding pounds by increasing activity. (and here, too.)
"Obese people who shed 7% to 9% of body weight over about a year by following a low-fat or low-carbohydrate diet also showed significant improvements in left-ventricular mass and function, benefits that only partly went away as they regained some of the lost weight during the two-year study, according to a report published today in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology [1].

The beneficial changes, which included decreased LV mass, improved systolic and diastolic function, and reduced carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) as measured by ultrasound..."
Have a heart, a better heart, and drop the weight.
