High Hospital Occupancy Confers Increased Inpatient Mortality Risk

In other words, arguably the greater the access to sick care and hospitalization, the less the likelihood of survival.
To varying degrees, higher hospital occupancy, lower nurse staffing levels, weekend admission, and admission during high seasonal influenza activity all independently increase the risk of dying in the hospital, according to a study published in Medical Care this month.
