The finding does not prove that better food selections and gyms prevent obesity. "But what this study does tell us," Black said, "is that substantial differences (in obesity) exist between neighborhoods with different levels of access to food and fitness amenities."As there are probably other differences, too, e.g., in IQ.
So?
The findings, according to Black, suggest that "it's worth taking these kinds of (neighborhood) factors into account when looking for solutions to rising rates of obesity."There is only one solution to the rising rates of obesity.
Weight loss = fewer Calories in than out.
To do that, people of all socioeconomic strata must be held personally responsible.
There will never be the perfect scenario for all. You have to succeed with what you got.
Period.

Thank you for your comment:
"Excellent observation. Parents need to be responsible for their childrens nutrition and not looking for reasons not to be."
