Australia faces its biggest challenge: being overweight



Probably more.
More than 70 per cent of Australians will be overweight or obese and only a quarter in the healthy weight range by the year 2025, according to a new Monash University report.

"This is the biggest public health challenge Australia's ever faced from any disorder," warns Professor Paul Zimmet, director emeritus of the Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute and member of the Preventative Health Taskforce on Obesity, Tobacco and Alcohol.
And why the numbers will grow.
Professor Zimmet doesn't see it as simply an issue of diet, he says hundreds of factors contribute to a society's weight, from food access to urban planning, "and we need to take a much wider approach to the problem.
"One of the major recommendations of the Preventative Health Taskforce was better urban planning to give the community better access to the right foods and the right exercise facilities."
It is simply a matter of Calories in vs. Calories out.

The data could not be clearer that providing more facilities will do close to nothing, that the environment is not the cause and that there are no such things as "healthy foods."

Idiots.

Stay away from Alcohol & Eat Healthy Food instead of junk food and join fitness center.

Health is related to BMI.

BMI is related only to Calories in vs. Calories out.

There are no such things as "healthy foods."

There is only eating healthily, i.e., to achieve a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9.

Exercise is a terribly inefficient way to control weight and will almost never result in improved fitness.

For most, it is a sure means to failure re: weight control.

There is a place for physical activity, no doubt. However, for weight loss/weight control it is a fool's game.
