Eating At Buffets Plus Not Exercising Equals Obesity In Rural America

How could this be?
"In small towns in the Midwestern United States, people who eat out often at buffets and cafeterias and who perceive their community to be unpleasant for physical activity are more likely to be obese."
I mean, what is it about the combination of too many Calories in compared to out that can lead to fatso-ness?

This curious result clearly demonstrates the need for more research.
"'Although obesity rates are higher in rural areas, this is one of the first studies to look at food choices and exercise in this population,' says Alicia Casey, first author of the paper and now a doctoral student in health communications at Penn State University. 'Determining how much these factors increase the risk of obesity in rural areas can help us determine methods to help this group.'"
Thank whatever spirit in which you believe that they are already making plans to spend more money pursuing this ultra-important quest.
"This study was funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."
Hopefully, more tax dollars will be wisely invested in determining whether more Calories in than out make urban people fat.

Remember, the NIH and CDC are the same folks who bring you child abuse.

It is critical that they expand the harm they cause to justify their existences.
