Report Points To Lack Of Public Awareness Of Health Guidelines, UK

A mixed blessing.
"Most people do not know the Government guidelines for healthy eating, drinking and exercise, suggests a report out today from The NHS Information Centre."
Just as well since the guidelines do not work anyway.
"Yet despite the lack of awareness of official advice, figures published in the report indicate both physical activity and consumption of fruit and vegetables have been increasing."
The result?
"On obesity, the report showed the proportion of adults who are obese increased from 13 per cent for men and 16 per cent for women in 1993 to 24 per cent for both men and women in 2007."
How good can those guidelines be if increasing activity and increasing consumption of fruits and veggies still lead to increasing obesity?

Not very.

The "mixed" part of the blessing, is that if people do not know the silly guidelines, you don't have to waste time unlearning them before you teach them the right way to lose weight and engage in physical activity for improved fitness.

And here is a demonstration of complete ignorance as to what is needed.
"Medical director of The NHS Information Centre and practising GP, Dr Mark Davies, said: 'It is important that people understand the health implications of the lifestyle choices they make.'"
"Understanding" is the booby prize.

What is "important" is for people to fully experience the consequences of their choices which they cannot as long as the rest of us are forced to pay for attempting their rescue by drugs and surgeries.

Cut them loose to fend for themselves.

Then we will see change.
