Replacing Sugary Beverages With Water Is Associated With Decreases In Children And Teens' Calorie Intake

This impressively silly research has one real benefit (likely unintended) to it.
"Encouraging children and teens to drink water instead of sugary beverages is associated with decreases in their total calorie intake of an average of 235 per day."
Now what could it possibly be about consuming fewer Calories that leads to fewer Calories being consumed?

I wonder...

Now here is the benefit.

Big White, the milk industry, is IMHO way crooked.

Big White has suggested that substituting milk Calories for other Calories is of benefit in weight loss.

This is trash.

Calories are basically Calories no matter the source.

The current study says it all:
"The results suggest that reducing the amount of sugary beverages children drink could reduce their risk for obesity, but only if those beverages are replaced with water instead of milk or juice, the authors note."
If you want to cut Calories, then cut the Calories and do not replace them with milk or anything else.

Period.
