"MONEY from higher taxes on junk food would be used to reduce the skyrocketing cost of fresh fruit and vegetables, under a plan by doctors to fight obesity.In a paper released yesterday, the Australian Medical Association called for a tax rise on sugary soft drinks and unhealthy foods known to significantly contribute to obesity.
AMA president Rosanna Capolingua said the revenue raised from the higher taxes should be used to subsidise fresh fruit and vegetables, and for public education campaigns on obesity."
