'When counseling an obese patient about her various delivery options, an accurate estimated fetal weight is important to better quantify the risk of shoulder dystocia and to compare that risk with the risk of cesarean delivery,' write Nathan S. Fox, MD, from Maternal Fetal Medicine Associates, PLLC, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY, and colleagues. 'Without an accurate estimated fetal weight, the ability for a patient to make an informed decision would be quite limited.'"
