"Capital and Coast District Health Board has set aside $100,000 to give up to five morbidly obese patients surgery by June to reduce the size of their stomachs...'It's an economic investment for people who are on a one-way track to dialysis.'"
It is hard to describe this. Is it the apex or nadir of stupid?
Try wiring their jaws shut first.
It's cheaper and they can pay for it themselves.BTW, it is very likely that bariatric surgery is NOT less costly than allowing people the privilege of getting their self-inflicted illnesses and that the cost-saving argument is simply untrue.
