The cost of superstition

Finally an article that deals in some measure of truthfulness with the weight loss industry.
"Despite vast advances in knowledge and technology over the last 2,000 years, it turns out people today are not so different from the ancients when it comes to superstition and the way it affects decision-making and the economy, according to new research...

While the researchers knew superstition sometimes plays a role in marketplace choices, 'it's the magnitude of the effect, I think, we weren't expecting,' Kramer said."
This explains nicely how a fatso like AdipOprah can be considered an authority on weight loss and anoint other authorities.

Trusting her is a belief system. It is based in stupidity.
"'Although the products of science are all around us, people don't think scientifically. They still are very intuitive and don't think about evidence and reason and logic in their everyday lives,' he said."
I addressed this matter years ago.

And that is why the toxic industries of diet products, diet books, diet programs, the malpractice known as bariatric surgery, the malpractice of diet drugs, etc., continue to thrive.

People would rather rely on voodoo and stupid than recognize truth.
