" Positive effects on nutrition for Ontarians can be expected through announcements in this budget, such as:Since expert diet advice is clearly a huge part of the problem, any effort involving them will not work.
- Investments in childhood obesity programs;
- Support for student nutrition programs;
- Access to dietitians through additional Family Health Teams;
- Funding to support consumption of local vegetables and fruit through the Pick Ontario Freshness campaign;
- Poverty reduction strategies;
- Investments in hospice and end of life care;
- Investments in E-health - including a diabetes registry helping people with diabetes manage their condition in conjunction with health care providers.
Nutrition is a key factor in maintaining health, and Dietitians of Canada supports initiatives that increase access to healthy foods and the professional nutrition expertise of Registered Dietitians."
