Fat: An Active Player In The Regulation Of Many Processes In Health And Disease

The excuse-inators are crawling out of the woodwork.
"Why should we be interested in doing obesity related research? Emphasis is put on this type of research simply because of the fact that the epidemiological data and predictions are alarming. Worldwide it is estimated that one person in every eight is overweight and more than 300 millions are obese. For a definition of overweight and obesity see Table 1 at the end of the press release."
Despite the good question, the answer clearly does not address it. In fact, it intentionally avoids it.

Why?

Because there is absolutely no data to suggest that this "research" will either make "the epidemiological data and predictions" un-alarming or will not create new problems.

And there never will be since all medical interventions are associated with complications.

Here is more techno-babble to further confuse the matter.
"Adipose tissue is no longer seen merely as a mostly passive energy storage organ but is now also considered to be an active endocrine tissue that by producing a variety of cytokines, hormones and other proteins impacts on a multitude of physiological and pathophysiological processes in the human body. The adipocyte, whose size and numbers are increased in obesity, is the cellular factory that produces these proteins termed adipokines."
Of note is the admission that fat tissue is more complex than previously thought.

This is the excuse they will repeat when people fail treatment and/or are injured/killed.

There are more incomplete understandings to come.
"In conclusion we suggest that knowledge of regulatory mechanisms, which impact on the production of adipokines and on adipose tissue development and growth is instrumental to develop and improve strategies for combating not only obesity but also cardiovascular disease."
In conclusion, these folk don't know squat that is useful.

In conclusion, all fat people are fat because they consume more Calories than they burn.

In conclusion, no therapy will ever change this.

In conclusion, no research will ever alter this.

In conclusion, we know exactly how people get fat, we know exactly how to lose weight.

In conclusion, it has NOTHING to do with any medical intervention.

In conclusion, wise up and consume fewer Calories than you burn to lose weight if you want to succeed and not become a victim of medical and scientific mythology.
