"California received its annual State of the State's Children report card Thursday, bringing home grades few parents would view with pride...Oops.
Obesity received the lowest mark, of D+."
"At Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland, doctors agreed that the obesity epidemic in children is getting worse.'We're not simply seeing overweight kids, we're seeing morbidly obese kids and they're sick,' said Dr. Lydia Tinajero-Deck, co-director of the hospital's Healthy Eating, Active Living clinic.
More school-age children are coming in with high blood pressure, prediabetic symptoms or diabetes, sleep apnea and knee and back problems, she said."
Oops, again.
"The Children Now report called for a coordinated effort to bridge the 'fragmented and uncoordinated' policy efforts to address obesity.Fighting obesity requires attacking the problem on several fronts, including food marketing and school meals, Lempert said. Those policies need to be funded, Tinajero-Deck said."
Bull.
Funding needs to be withheld.
People need to pay for their own wrongdoings.
The sick care system has to butt out.
Then you will see change.
